Boston Guitar Lessons Instructors

Meet Our Teachers!

Greg Arney

Greg Arney, Boston Guitar Instructor

Greg Arney founded Boston Guitar Lessons in 2009, while still himself a student at Berklee College of Music. He first picked up the guitar at the age of 17, and has performed in a wide range of styles ever since.

In addition to playing guitar, Greg enjoys composing music in a wide variety of styles. Greg sees himself as a music scientist, always eager to uncover and explore new concepts, and engrossed in learning about music for the sake of knowledge itself. It was these qualities that led Greg to write Guitar Modus: 25 Steps To Mastery, the five-volume guitar method book that has become the basis for the curriculum at Boston Guitar Lessons.

Greg recently finished his coursework at Berklee College of Music and now spends most of his time playing, teaching and performing music. His teachers include David Newsam, Jon Finn, Wally Wysk, Lauren Passarelli, Livingston Taylor and David "Fuze" Fiuczynski, Sal DiFusco and Tom Stein -- world renowned musicians.

In addition to teaching, Greg is involved in numerous projects: He is working on a series of educational videos for guitar, he works as a business development and marketing consultant for several music-related businesses, and has taught classes, workshops and seminars on this topic for Berklee.

George Woods

George Woods, Guitar Teacher based in Boston

George Woods was born to a musical family in Poughkeepsie, NY. His father was a jazz guitar player and began teaching George to play guitar since age 8. George's grandfather, Harry Woods, was a world-reknowned songwriter and composer in New York City's famed Tin Pan Alley. Harry Woods wrote hits that topped the billboard charts, some of which are still performed and played today: "Try A Little Tenderness" and "Side by Side."

George graduated Berklee College of Music in 2010, with a major in Jazz Composition. In addition to his many musical projects and engagements, he is proud to offer private lessons to pass along the musical knowledge he has acquired.

Jeff da Fonte
